Brian Helmick – President, Sales and Marketing

Prior to co-founding Algentis, Brian worked in sales at ProService, an HR outsourcing firm.  He focused on white collar sales and brought on high technology and biotech clients.  Before joining ProService, Brian worked in business development and sales at Xoom, an online money transfer firm.  Prior to Xoom, he was a private equity investor with Goldman Sachs Capital Partners and General Atlantic.  At General Atlantic, he focused on information technology and outsourcing opportunities and had oversight responsibility for the investment in ProPay, an HR outsourcing firm.  Brian began his career as an investment banker with Salomon Smith Barney.  He successfully passed the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and CPA exams.

 

Brian was born in Bogotá, Colombia and grew up throughout Asia, Latin America and the U.S.  His fiancée Marianna is from São Paulo, Brazil yet they both consider the Bay Area home.  Brian is active with St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, both in San Francisco.  He received his MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and his B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from the University of Florida.

Mike Sousa – President, Finance and Operations

Prior to co-founding Algentis, Mike worked at Nike where he focused on improving the operations of Nike’s stand-alone brands including Converse and Hurley.  He spearheaded strategic and operational initiatives from margin enhancement to new market entry.  He also worked at OpenTable, the leading online restaurant reservation company, where he worked on projects across the various functions of the organization including operations, marketing and finance.  Prior to this, he was a private equity investor with AEA Investors and a strategy consultant with Bain and Company.  He was also the Director of Operations for Vital Vittles, a 120-employee grocery store.

 

Mike and his wife Jenny both grew up in Missoula, Montana and currently live in the East Bay.  He received his MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business and his B.S. in Finance and International Business from Georgetown University.
